HOWZATT
Manipal College of Dental Sciences, on the special occasion of the 25th anniversary of the college, inaugurated its first ever intra state dental college cricket tournament “Howzatt-2011” at NITK college, Suratkal on 23rd November at 9 a.m. The tournament was played in a T-20 format, under the presence of 10 prestigious dental colleges across the state.
The chief delegates for the event were as follows:

The Dental colleges who competed for the cup were as follows:
1) Manipal College of Dental Sciences Mangalore
2) Manipal College of Dental Sciences Manipal
3) Ambedkar College of Dental Sciences, Bangalore
4) Babuji Dental College and Hospital Davangere
5) KLE Vishwanathan Katti Institute of Dental Sciences, Belgaum
6) SDM College Dental Science and hospital, Dharwad
7) Hasanamba Dental College and hospital, Mangalore
8) AB Shetty Memorial Institute Dental Science, Mangalore
9) Yenepoya Dental college and hospital, Mangalore
10) AJ Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore
The colleges fought tooth and nail for the cup, in the upcoming days. The tournament provided a new platform to many players, who did miracles on field. The final day of match of Howzatt began on a small late note. Since it rained in Suratkal early in the morning, the game started by 10:30 a.m instead of 8:30 a.m, and the game was reduced to a total of 13 overs instead of the usual 20 overs. The finals were played between KLE College, Belgaum and SDM College, Dharwad. KLE College Belgaum won the match by 7 runs. The tournament was ended with a valedictory function. The chief guest for the event was Dr. Anand Venugopal, Deputy Superintendent, KMC hospitals Mangalore. The event was followed by prize distribution ceremony, where the winners were presented with a trophy, gold medal and certificate. The runner-up team was also presented with a trophy, silver medal and certificate. The umpires for the event, Mr. Roland Pinto, Mr. Shaman ad Mr. Atmaram (scorer) were also awarded with token of appreciation. The Dean, Dr. V. Surendra Shetty gave away the vote of thanks to the management and all the people who helped in making Howzatt a success. The other prizes that were given away were:
1) Best batsmen of the tournament-Varun (SDM College)
2) Best bowler of the the tournament-Nishit (KLE Belgaum)
3) Maximum no. of Sixes- Akhilesh (Ambedkar college)
4) Player who took max. no. of catches- Nishit (KLE Belgaum)
