DENTAL CREATIVITY
OBJECTIVE: TO MAKE A CREATIVE MODEL OUT OF THE DENTAL MATERIALS THAT ARE WIDELY USED IN DENTISTRY
ENTRIES: 2 teams per batch. (Team consists of 2 members)
TIME: MAXIMUM 1HR
RULES: Participants will have to get their own dental materials and manipulating instruments. However preformed shapes, dentures or any templates, etc are not allowed. Manipulating instruments should be purely used for manipulation of the dental materials and not in the final display of the model. Judgement will be based on the theme chosen, imagination and creativity.
Note: materials to be used will be inspected prior to the event.

Description: Objective is to solve a crossword grid provided on
the spot.

GRAFFITI
Description: Objective is to design a graffiti based on a theme
selected by the participants.
Entries: 2 teams per batch. 3 members per team.
Time: Maximum 1 hour
Rules: objective is to write something creative based on the
theme. Theme will be decided on the spot through
slots. There should not be any drawing or painting or
any kind of art. Just writing is allowed. Sheet will be
provided. Get your own pens and pencils.

PAINTING
Description: Objective is to create beautiful painting based on the
theme.
Entries: unlimited
Time: maximum 1 hour
Rules: expression can be free hand pictorial. Chat paper will
be provided. Participants have to get their own paint
sets, container for water, brushes and other required
materials. Only watercolour is allowed. No oil paints
are allowed.
Points: 10 – 6 – 4
RANGOLI
Description: objective is to create an intelligent, integrative,
colourful rangoli, using ONLY Rangoli Powder.
Entries: 1 team per batch. Teams of maximum 3 members
Time: Maximum 1 hour
Rules: Expression can be free hand pictorial. Chalk will be
provided. Participants must get their own colours and
tiles. No rice grains, flower petals, salt crystals etc
are allowed. Colours may be mixed with white
rangoli powder (NOT WITH SAND). Premeasured
space of 3ft. X 3ft. will be provided to each team.
Participants who exceed the given space will be
disqualified.
Points: 20 – 15 – 10
MEHENDI
Description: objective is to create an artistic mehendi based on a
selected design.
Entries: unlimited entries
Time: Maximum 1 hr.
Rules: Participants will have to get their own mehendi
cones. Participants should bring someone along to
model for them.
Points: 10 – 06 – 04
FLOWER ARRANGEMENT (FRESH)
Description: Objective is to create a flower arrangement based on
any theme.
Entries: 1 team per batch. 3 members per team.
Time: Maximum 1 hour
Rules: Only fresh flowers and leaves to be used. Props are
allowed. One participant will explain the theme to the
judge.
Points: 20 – 15 – 10
FLOWER ARRANGEMENT (DRY)
Description: Objective is to create a flower arrangement based on
any theme.
Entries: 1 team per batch. 3 members per team.
Time: Maximum 1 hour
Rules: Only dry flowers to be used. Painting of dry flowers
should be done on the spot. Flowers to be used will
be inspected prior to the event. Props are allowed.
One participant will explain the theme to the judge.

COLLAGE
Description: Objective is to use your swift hands and intelligence
to create an original piece of artwork using hand-cut
pieces of paper.
Entries: Maximum 2 teams per batch. Teams of maximum 3.
Time: Maximum 1 hour.
Rules: Topic will be given on the spot. Only registered chart
papers will be provided. Participants must bring
paper, magazines, newspapers and glue. No scissors
(all paper must be torn by hand), pens, or pencils
will be allowed. No burning of the edges of paper
allowed. 3-D imaging not allowed. Participants have
to explain the theme of their collage to the judges
during the competition. The judges will evaluate
collage accordingly.

CARTOONING
Description: Objective is to draw a caricature/editorial scene based
on a situation given to the participants.
Entries: Unlimited
Time: Maximum 1 hour
Rules: topic will be given on the spot. Paper will be
provided. Participants must bring their own Black
High-Tech Pen. Points: 10 – 06 – 04
A LA CARTE
Description: Objective is to set up a dinner table pertaining to a
particular region, state, country, and style of cooking.
Entries: 1 team per batch.
Time: maximum 1 hour
Rules: Tables will be provided. Participants have to bring all
materials including cuisine of choice, props,
beverages, cutlery items, etc. One member of the
team will present the theme to the judges. Points
would be given for the presentation, theme and setup,
NOT for the cuisine/taste.

DEBATE
Entries: 1 team per batch, teams of 2.
Time: Maximum 4 minutes to speak for and 4 minutes t
speak against the topic. Each participant will be
subjected to a rebuttal round consisting of 1 question
from judges.
Rules: Topics will be announced 24 hrs. in advance.
Points: 20 – 15 – 10
Best Speaker: 10 Points
POTPOURRI
Entries: team per batch. Teams of maximum 3.
Rules: Rounds may include Dumb Charade, Tom, Dick and
Harry & Pictionary.

MIME
Entries: 1 team per batch. Teams of minimum 6 and
maximum 8.
Time: Maximum 5 minutes
Rules: Themes (by lots) will be given 24 hrs. in advance. No
speech or human sounds are allowed. No props
allowed. Backg round non-human sounds are allowed,
e.g. rustling of leaves, chirping of birds etc. No
recorded music is permitted.

MOCK PRESS
Description: Objective is to present a character through disguise
and an interview.
Entries: 1 team per batch. 1 individu al per team.
Rules: Character to be presented would be picked up by lots
24 hrs. in advance.

Entries: 1 entry per batch.
Rules: Rules will be announced during the event.

GENERAL QUIZ
Entries: Teams of 3. Unlimited entries per batch. A written
preliminary qualifying round will be conducted. The
top 6 teams will qualify for the finals (Maximum two
teams can qu alify from each batch).
Rules: Specific rules regarding the evaluation procedure,
time to answer a particular question and the type of
rounds will be given at the venue during the
competition.

STREET PLAY (SKIT)
Entries: 1 team per batch. Team should be of minimum 6 and
maximum 8.
Time: maximum 7 minutes.
Rules: Skit must be done in Hindi or English. No props and
no costumes are allowed. Topics (by lots) will be
available 24 hrs. in advance.

EK MINUTE
Description: Objective is to compete and successfully accomplish
tasks set out by the conductor in a minute’s time.
Entries: 2 individuals per batch
Rules: Will be announced on the spot.

EXTEMPORE
Entries: 1 entry per team
Time: Maximum 3 minutes to speak.
Rules: Topic given on the spot. Participant has 3 minutes to
prepare.

STAND-UP COMEDY
Entries: 1 entry per batch
Time: Maximum 5 minutes to perform.
Rules: Participants should perform 5 minutes of totally
original material on theme of their choice. Mimicry is
allowed. Lan guage should be either Hindi or English.
No use of foul or intimidating language.
Points: 10 – 06 – 04
MAD ADS
Entries: 1 team per batch. Teams of minimum 6 and
maximum 8
Time: Maximum 7 minutes.
Rules: Products (by lots) will be available 24 hrs in advance.
Narration has to be done either in Hindi or in
English. No props and no foul language. Recorded
narration not allowed.
Points: 20 – 15 – 10
POETRY RECITAL (ENGLISH)
Entries: 1 individual per batch
Time: maximum 4 minutes
Rules: Three topics will be given 24 hour in advance at the
info desk. Poem(s) need to be original and composed
by the participants themselves on one or more of
three topics. There’s No limit on number of poems
per participant but time limit should not be exceeded.
Poem should be in English only. Participants can
give short introduction to their poem(s) but it should
be within the permitted total time. Poets have to give
a hard copy of each of their poems to the judges
before they recite the same.

POETRY RECITAL (HINDI)
Entries: One per batch
Time: maximum 4 minutes

INSTALLATION
Entries: 1 team per batch. Team should be of maximum three.
Time: Maximum 2 hrs.
Rules: Objective is to install a three dimensional structure
from building blocks. Installation may be based on
any theme but the theme has to be specified by each
team. Building blocks can be of anything of
participants’ choice and imagination, like thermocole
pieces, soft drink bottle caps old CD’s or Floppy
disks etc. Preformed shapes, templates etc. not
allowed. A space of volume 3ft. x 3ft. x 3ft. will be
provided. The installation should not increase the
limit. Judgement will be based on the choice of
building blocks and their correlation to the theme
chosen, imagination and theme creativity.

DANCE TO THE TUNE
Objective is to dance to previously undisclosed music/song(s) on the spot.
Entry: 1 per batch
Time: 2 minutes
Rules: FOUR songs, each of 30 seconds duration will be played back to back.
The songs can be of ANY language. The participant must ‘dance to the tune’.
ONE prop will be provided.During the performance, the prop has to be
used for ONE minute, at least. Participant will be evaluated on dancing
abilities,instincts to music, innovation in steps, and grace.

SPOT PHOTOGRAPHY
Objective is to capture photo/s on the given theme.
Entry: 2entry per batch.
Time: max 2 hrs.
Rules: Participant has to bring his/her own digital camera of not more than 12
Megapixels. The digital camera should have a memory card which will be formatted by the
judges before the commencement of the contest. The participant has to capture FIVE
photographs on the theme announced on the spot by the judges. At the end of the stipulated
time, the participant will be asked to hand over the memory card to the judges. The card
must have NOT more than five images in it at this time. No mixing, matching or morphing
of photographs will be permitted. Software such as Photoshop, photoscape, picasa, etc for
enhancing images not permitted. The organizers will have all rights for the use of these
pictures as and when they deem fit. Digital images are evaluated on the basis of impact,
composition, technical quality, and relevance to the theme. Additi onal instructions will be
announced on the spot.

CLAY MODELLING
Entries: 1 team per batch. Team of 2 members.
Time: Maximum 2 hrs
Rules: Objective is to make an explicit model from clay.
Clay will be provided. Other required materials have
to be brought by the participants themselves.
Colours, sparkles, papers can be used for the final
decoration of the clay-model. No stick support is
allowed. More prominence will be given to the skill
in the clay modelling than to that in accessory
decoration.

ANTAKSHARI
Entries: 3 members per team. Unlimited entries per batch. A
written preliminary qualification round will be
conducted. The top 6 teams will qualify for the finals
(maximum two teams can qualify from each batch).
Rules: Will be announced on the spot. Language: Only
Hindi.
Points: 20 – 15 – 10
INDIAN NON-CLASSICAL LIGHT VOCAL SOLO
Entries: 1 entry per batch.
Time: Maximum 5 minutes
Rules: Songs can be from a film of any Indian language.
Non-film songs such as geet, gazals, bhajans and
abhangas are also allowed. Orchestra will be
provided. Participants can avail this facility or have
their accompanists with own instruments. The
judgement would also be based on an interactive
session between the judges and the participant.
Points: 10 – 06 – 04
INDIAN NON-CLASSICAL LIGHT VOCAL DUET
Entries: One team per batch. Team should be of two singers,
one male and one female.
Time: Maximum 6 minutes
Rules: Songs can be from a film of any Indian language.
Non-film songs such as geet, gazals, bhajans and
abhangas are also allowed. Orchestra will be
provided. Participants can avail this facility or have
their accompanists with own instruments.
Points: 20 – 15 – 10
INDIAN NON-CLASSICAL LIGHT VOCAL GROUP
Entries: One team per batch. Team should be of minimum 4
and maximum 8 singers.
Time: Maximum 6 minutes
Rules: Songs can be from a film of any Indian language.
Non-film songs such as geet, gazals, bhajans and
abhangas are also allowed. Orchestra will be
provided. Participants can avail this facility or have
their accompanists with own instruments.

WESTERN / NON-INDIAN VOCAL SOLO

WESTERN / NON-INDIAN VOCAL GROUP
Entries: One team per batch. Team should be of minimum 4
and maximum 8.
Time: Maximum 6 minutes
Rules: Songs must be sung in English or any other foreign
language. Orchestra will be provided. Participants
can avail this facility or have their accompanists
with own instruments.

NEW EVENT
CARNATIC/HINDUSTANI CLASSICAL VOCAL SOLO ( 8 Min )
Rules Songs must be purely classical. Original kritis are allowed but filmi or folk
songs (even though classically based) not allowed. Non filmi songs like
geeth/ghazals/bhajans and abhangs not allowed. Participants are allowed 2
accompanists, (excluding Tanpura) which have to be arranged by themselves.
No recorded background music, karaoke or –1cassette music allowed.
Electronic shruti will be provided but other classical electronic
instruments (eg. electronic tabla) if desired to be used by the
organizers, will have to be arranged on their own and will be
counted as an accompanist. Tanpura software can be used and will not
count as an accompanist (No other music csoftware is allowed).
Name of the Raga & Tala should be announced by the participant at the
beginning.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC (any one of the following

2. NON CLASSICAL INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC (SOLO)
Entries: One entry per batch.
Time: Maximum 5 minutes
Rules: Non-classical Indian or classical/non-classical
foreign music should be played. Two accompanists
are allowed. Electronic shruti will be provided.

NO COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE

INAUGARAL CULTURAL PARADE
Entries: 1 parade per batch. Teams of minimum 10 and
maximum 20 + 1 Emcee
Time: maximum 3 minutes for presentation.
Rules: Participants must be dressed in traditional attires
pertaining to a state, country or any theme. The
parades will be arranged in the chronological order of
the numbers allotted to them at the main entrance of
the auditorium. The parades will march from this
point forward through the aisle up to the judges.
During presentations, NO college flag or national
flag is allowed on the stage and teams may be
disqualified if found using the same. Narrations
and recorded music are allowed for the presentation.
Any Cassettes and CD’s intended to be used should
be given to the organiser prior to the function.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Description: Objective is to present an interesting and entertaining
video / photos / power point presentation of the
‘dental week practice sessions’ by the batch.
Entries: One video per batch.
Time: Maximum 5 minutes
Rules: The video will be played prior to the beginning of
Variety Entertainment and Fashion Show. Any
obscenity would invite disqualification. Presentation
should be either a video or power point presentation.
Photos and videos should be original. Narration is not
allowed. Only recorded narration and music is
allowed. It’s the class rep.’s resp onsibility to check
the compatibility of CD’s and pen drives. Personal
laptops can be used. Get your own LCD output cords.
Points: 10 – 06 – 04
Time: Maximum 50 + 10 MINUTES from entry to vacating
backstage.
VARIETY ENTERTAINMENT SHOW
Entries: 1 team per batch. Team should be of up to 30
including the emcee(s).

In case of any dispute with regard to any Judges’ / Conductors’ decisions are final
aspect of interclass competitions, the matter would be put forward to the staff
committee comprising of The Dean and The Associate Deans for Further action.
